Product Description
Agaricus is a fungus that belongs to the family Agaricaceae that originated from Brazil. The genus Agaricus has over 300 species. It is called Cogumelo do sol in Brazil and Himematsutake in Japan [3]. Agaricus is native to Brazil. It is now grown in China and Japan for commercial purposes. Some of the Agaricus mushrooms include Agaricus blazei, Agaricus Biosporus, etc. Agaricus blazei has a leading medicinal value. It has been used in Brazilian folk medicine for a long time to support good health. It was discovered in 1960 by Japan researcher called Takatoshi Furumoto [3]. Agaricus Blazei was first noticed to have medicinal value when outsiders noticed that the people of Piedale rain forest of brazil who consumed the mushroom as diet have lower cases of cancer or heart- related diseases. The mushroom has an aroma and smell that can be likened to that of an almond. Due to its potential benefits, the mushroom has been artificially cultivated in some parts of the world. It is sold as supplements. It is believed that the mushroom can support a lot of healthy body processes. Evidence have shown that the claims are weak [2]. The mushroom gained scientists' interest in the 1970s due to its low rate of geriatric disorder or illness.
Product Benefits
Healthy Cell Replication

In the US, cancer is the second highest cause of death (ACS,2020). The mushroom has a desirable effect against cancerous cells. Research suggests that the mushroom contains polysaccharides and other compounds that are capable of initiating processes leading to modulation or suppression of tumor formulation at different cancer stages. The mushroom extract can also promote the replication of healthy cells [3]. The strong immunomodulating property of the mushroom extract has attracted scientists worldwide to develop an interest in the plant [4]. Evidence has also presented that the extract can stimulate the process that will lead to the death of leukemic cells (Apoptosis) [5].

Immune Health

Agaricus have been reported to contain glycans that are capable of boosting the immune system. With the immune system being boosted, it will consequently promote better health. In a particular in vitro experiment, water extract obtained from the Mycelial culture was observed to stimulate the production of tumor necrosis factor (TNF) from the rat’s bone marrow. It further explains the mushroom’s ability to stimulate and modulate the immune system for response to infections [6]. Due to its ability to boost the immune system, Agaricus Mushroom has been reported to have anti-viral and anti-bacterial activities.

Blood Sugar

The non-infectious disease is the 3rd most common disorder resulting in disabilities and mortality. Investigations explain that they have a considerable anti-hyperglycemic activity when the submerged cultivated mycelium powder of Agaricus bransiliensis was applied to a rat injected with streptomycin [7]. Evidence suggests that the mushroom is capable of suppressing oxidative stress, thereby aiding tissue recovery in diabetes. 1500mg of A.blazei is capable of reducing blood glucose by half. It also works better when used together with other anti-diabetic agents [2]. A study supported the claim that the mushroom extract offers a protective effect by suppressing blood glucose and aiding body weight gain. Extract of Agaricus blazei have been reported to be potentially advantageous in type 2 Diabetes. Beta-glucans extracted from A.blazei have also been noticed to reduce glucose levels considerably [7]. Despite its promising potentials, researchers are yet to show if it is useful in prediabetic [2].

Gut Health

A. blazei seems beneficial to people for a variety of gut health promoting benefits. The mushroom extract's ability to promote normal cell response has been attributed to its ability to reduce cytokine levels in healthy volunteers' blood. Patients with ulcerative colitis and crohn’s disease have been discovered to have an overexpression of cytokines. With the mushroom extract's intake, there was a considerable reduction In the cytokine level in the blood and calprotectin in feces [8]. Hepatitis: 0.9% of people of the Australian population are living with chronic hepatitis B. Also, 435 deaths have been attributed to hepatitis B (Hepatitis Ausralia,2018). It was reported that A. blazei promoted normal liver function in patients with hepatitis B [9]. Report suggests that the mushroom extract could support calming cell response in the pancreas [2]. The mushroom extract was reported to reduce the serum level of y-glutamic-pyruvate-transaminase (a marker for liver damage) [10]. The mushroom extract of Agaricus have pronounced activity to support blood & joint health.
Nutritional Profile
