Product Description
Our Premium Cat's Claw supplement is standardized to 1.5% Total Oxindole Alkaloids.
Uncaria tomentosa (a woody vine found in the Amazon rainforest) is popularly known as "Cat's Claw" because of its claw-shaped thorns.

Product Benefits
Cat's Claw (also known as vilcacora) derives its name from the Indian language of the Quechua people to mean a "sacred plant". Cat's claw has been used in traditional health practices and can be found in the forests of South America (mainly Peru and Brazil) and in Central America. Currently,Cat's Claw is used in Western countries as a nutritional supplement for a variety of health conditions. It is also used to support the immune system and as a support herb for viral health.*
  • Cat's Claw may encourage white blood cells to inhibit the lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-dependent expression or in simple terms support healthy cell reproduction [4]. Alkaloids, quinovic acid, glycosides and b-sitosterol from Cat's Claw interact synergistically and exhibit flammation homeostatis promoting properties [5]. Several water-soluble flavonoids like procyanidines, quercetin, ursolic acid, and oleanoic acid found in Cats Claw my offer breath support, and antioxidant and healthy cell promoting properties [6].*
  • Cat's Claw is also considered a great cancer support agent [7]. Breast cancer is the most frequent neoplasm affecting women worldwide. Some recommended treatments involve chemotherapy, with toxic effects that include leukopenia and neutropenia. Cat's Claw may support the bodies ability to manage and reproduce healthy dna. It is an effective adjuvant agent to support healthy breast cells [17].*
  • The stem and bark of Cat's Claw help to support healthy glycemic levels and blood sugar. An extract concentration of 400 mg/kg showed a high support of blood sugar management (by 15%) [8]*
  • One of the astounding properties of Cat's Claw is its support for microbial management. There are many different pathogens such as Streptococcus mutans, Staphylococcus spp, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Candida albicans and Enterobacteriaceae. Cat's Claw supported 8% of healthy Enterobacteriaceae isolates, 52% of healthy Streptococcus mutans and 96% of healthy Staphylococcus spp at the concentration of 30 mg/ml. Healthy bacterial management activity was associated with oxindole alkaloids, triterpene, vegetal steroids, phenolic compounds, glycoside, tannin, and flavonoids. Pheophorbide an ethyl ester, Uncarine E, rhynchophylline, and isorhynchophylline (isolated from Cat's Claw) also showed significant healthy bacterial support [9][10][11] healthy cell management. Cat's Claw demonstrates no adverse effects when taken with antiretrovirals [19]. *
  • Several studies have also demonstrated the relationship between indole alkaloids and healthy nerve and stress response [12].*
  • Cat's Claw shows promise in providing healthy support for the central nervous system (CNS). Investigations have suggested that Cat's Claw extract ameliorates amyloid--induced neuronal death, methampheta**ne-induced cortical neuron death, glutamate-induced cell death and hippocampal cell death [13]. Cat's Claw extract supports our learning ability and may boost memory. It may also assist with brain health and as a mood support.*
  • Parkinson's disease is a degenerative nerve disease characterized by a decrease in neurotransmitter levels. The aqueous extract of Cat's Claw has a positive neuroprotective effect on dopaminergic neurons [14]. Results showed that the extract has free radical scavenging abilities, attenuates 6-OHDA-induced cell death (massive destruction of nigrostriatal dopaminergic neurons) and inhibits the activation of nitric oxide synthase. This suggested that Ca's Claw is a potential neuroprotective antioxidant in the preservation of brain health.*
  • Alzheimer's disease is a multifaceted neurodegenerative disorder characterized by the deterioration of cognition, learning ability, and memory that might be delayed by acetylcholinesterase inhibitors [15]. Cat's Claw extract may have a signicant effect on increasing acetylcholine and glutathione levels and decreasing acetylcholinesterase. Isorhynchophylline constituents (derived from Cat's Claw) could enhance antioxidants and provide positive homeostatis effects on brain tissue [16].*
  • Recent studies support the use of Uncaria tomentosa alone or in combination with other medicinal herbs for joint health [18]. It was discovered that pain-associated activities of daily living were significantly reduced. The Western Ontario and McMaster Universities Osteoarthritis Index (WOMAC) and visual analog scale (VAS) scores were improved after 8 weeks of this supplement when compared with placebos.*

Nutritional Profile
The chemical constituents of Cat's Claw have been extensively studied since the early 1900s. More than 200 compounds have been isolated from Uncaria tomentosa, including alkaloids, triterpenes, flavonoids, and phenylpropanoids. 123 indole alkaloids have been identifed and are classifed as monoterpene indole, monoterpene oxindole, and N-oxindole monoterpene indole alkaloids. Of these, oxindole alkaloids are regarded as major components (especially rhynchophylline and iso-rhynchophylline), as well as the corresponding unsaturated oxindole alkaloids like corynoxeine and isocorynoxeine. 82 triterpenoids have been isolated from this genus and quinovic acid is a common compound. 40 flavonoids have been identified from the Uncaria tomentosa which are classified to be flavanols and isoflavonols.
